Chris Jones practices in the area of commercial litigation and has represented clients in a range of matters including insurance defense, contract disputes, professional liability, shareholder disputes and protecting confidential information and trade secrets. In addition, he represents public utilities across the State of Texas in acquiring easements through eminent domain, easement and right-of-way litigation, and complex personal injury and property damage litigation matters. Chris also handles general business matters including drafting and negotiating contracts and leases, entity formation and corporate counseling for nonprofit organizations.
Experience
- Represented condemning authorities in acquiring easements for gas pipelines and electric transmission lines through eminent domain throughout the State of Texas.
- Obtained summary judgment on multiple matters related to the procurement of insurance dismissing claims of professional liability, breach of the Texas Insurance Code and breach of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
- Successfully represented client before the Texas Department of Insurance which resulted in a dismissal of the TDI's investigation.
- Obtained reversal of trial court judgment from Texas Court of Appeals involving a breach of contract claim.
- Obtained summary judgment dismissing copyright infringement claim.
