Kim Boyle Honored with National Urban League's Women of Power Award
NEW ORLEANS - July 26, 2024 - The National Urban League named New Orleans partner Kim Boyle one of its 2024 Women of Power. This award honors women driving their communities toward greatness in both the public and private sectors.
The National Urban League is a historic civil rights organization that collaborates at national and local levels with community leaders, policymakers and corporate partners to elevate the standards of living for African Americans and other historically underserved groups.
A pillar of the New Orleans community, Kim focuses many of her civic efforts on the intersection between higher education and the impact of the legal system on African American students. She serves on the boards and executive committees of Tulane University and Dillard University, and formerly served on the board of trustees for her alma mater, Princeton University. Kim launched The Ernest and Connie Boyle Scholarship Endowed Fund at both Tulane and Dillard to support those who have overcome socioeconomic or educational hardships.
Kim helps to steer organizations like Greater New Orleans, Inc. and the New Orleans Business Alliance to make New Orleans a great place to live and work. She heads up Phelps’ involvement in the NOLA Coalition, a group of 180 nonprofits and businesses working to improve public safety and expand community services. She formerly headed the Louisiana Women’s Forum and is the current chair of the board of directors of the Amistad Research Center.
Kim serves as the Vice-Managing Partner of the firm’s New Orleans office and practices in the areas of labor and employment, civil rights, constitutional law, commercial, tort and general litigation. She represents employers in cases involving retaliation, workplace harassment and discrimination claims. She also guides public and private clients through a variety of commercial disputes, including breach of contract, business torts, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair trade practices and class actions.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by an incredible organization that continuously works to lift up underserved groups,” Kim said. “I hope to continue to serve the National Urban League and my local community by working to provide opportunities to so that young men and women of color can achieve success in their communities and careers.”
The National Urban League honored Kim and her fellow changemakers at the Women of Power Awards Luncheon during its annual conference on July 25.
