Biz New Orleans Selects Kim Boyle to New Orleans 500 List
NEW ORLEANS — Nov. 21, 2023 — New Orleans Vice-Managing Partner Kim Boyle was honored by Biz New Orleans on its latest New Orleans 500 list. The list profiles business leaders who are driving the New Orleans economy and shaping the region’s future.
The daughter of a schoolteacher and postal clerk, Kim credits her parents with instilling in her from a young age the transformative power of education. After leaving the city to earn degrees at Princeton University and the University of Virginia School of Law, Kim returned to New Orleans not only to start her legal career, but also to make a difference in her community.
She focuses many of her civic efforts on the intersection between higher education and the impact of the legal system on African American students. She serves on the boards and executive committees of Tulane University and Dillard University, and formerly served on the board of trustees for her alma mater, Princeton University. In 2019, Kim launched The Ernest and Connie Boyle Scholarship Endowed Fund to help foster diversity at Tulane University and support those who have overcome socioeconomic or educational hardships, and previously started the Ernest and Connie Boyle Scholarship Fund at Dillard University, from which her mother graduated.
An accomplished member of Phelps’ New Orleans Labor and Employment practice group for over 20 years, Kim represents public and private employers in employment-related claims and commercial and tort litigation matters. She frequently speaks on employment-related topics, litigation and issues of procedure, as well as diversity, ethics and professionalism.
Kim has been recognized by many of the leading peer-review publications in the country including Benchmark Litigation as one of the Top 250 Women in US Litigation. She is very active in local, state and national bar associations. She served as the first female African American President of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the first African American President of the New Orleans Bar Association. Kim formerly served as Judge Pro Tempore for Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, as well as an Assistant Professor of Law at Loyola University College of Law.
“I am truly humbled and honored to be in the company of such esteemed leaders who all make a positive impact on our community,” Kim said. “My parents instilled in us at an early age, ‘to whom much is given, much is expected’. I have therefore always tried to give something back to the community that I love.”
