Brandon Davis Tapped to Lead American Agricultural Law Association
NEW ORLEANS – Nov. 29, 2023 – Phelps Partner Brandon Davis was elected to lead the American Agricultural Law Association (AALA) for the 2023-2024 term. A deeply involved member of AALA since 2017, Brandon will spearhead the organization’s mission of informing and engaging law and policy professionals who serve the agricultural and food communities.
Brandon focuses his practice on the intersection of labor and employment, immigration and business law. Raised in rural Louisiana, Brandon has a deep understanding of the agriculture industry, which began during a childhood spent on his grandparents’ farm and evolved into a hands-on knowledge of the operational and logistical needs of contemporary farming. This unique perspective, coupled with his experience leading Phelps’ agribusiness practice, allows Brandon to guide individuals, farmers, farm cooperatives and investor-owned farming operations through the regulations that govern the agriculture industry.
Brandon’s labor and employment law background gives him added insight into the myriad of issues that arise in the agribusiness labor and employment space. He focuses on legislative developments to steer agricultural employers through complex regulatory frameworks to reach timely resolutions while ensuring compliance. In addition to his legal practice, Brandon frequently speaks and publishes on legal trends, upcoming regulations and breaking news to help individuals and businesses bridge talent gaps in the agricultural space.
Brandon has served on the board of directors of the New Orleans Bar Association and is a past president of the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, and a past fellow for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
“AALA is one of the most dynamic and collaborative organizations of industry-specific lawyers who are adept and capable policymakers, litigators and trusted advisors to industry and government,” Brandon said. “I look forward to supporting the work of the organization and promoting the legal issues of primary concern among the agribusiness community.”
Brandon assumed the office of president-elect during AALA’s annual educational symposium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Nov. 9.
