Chris Ralston Receives New Orleans Bar Association Presidents’ Award
NEW ORLEANS, La. – August 28, 2022 - Phelps partner Chris Ralston was given the President’s Award by the New Orleans Bar Association (NOBA). The Presidents’ Award honors only one lawyer each year for professional excellence, integrity and dedication to service in the highest ideals of citizenship. The award is the highest level of recognition from the organization and is named the “Presidents’ Award” out of respect to the high ideals of community service and leadership displayed by all of the presidents of the organization.
Chris is the fourth Phelps lawyer to receive the award, following Harry Rosenberg, Kim Boyle and Philip deV. Claverie, Sr.
The New Orleans Bar Association represents the interests of lawyers and judges in the greater New Orleans area. It is dedicated to promoting justice, educating its members and enhancing the legal profession. Chris currently sits on the NOBA Board of Directors, serving as the organization’s president from 2016-2017.
Chris is a litigation partner and practice coordinator for Phelps’ New Orleans Litigation practice group. His cases span a broad range of commercial litigation issues, including intellectual property, commercial real estate disputes, trade secret and cyber disputes and tax litigation.
In addition to his legal work, Chris is a recent board chairman for the Pro Bono Project, National Board of Directors chair for the American Diabetes Association and chair of the ADA’s Louisiana/Mississippi Community Leadership Board, and a member of the Louisiana Access to Justice Commission. Chris currently serves as president of the Tulane Law School Alumni Association.
Chris received the award at a ceremony held on August 25 at the Windsor Court Hotel. “I truly am humbled by the honor,” he said. “Many of you have heard me say before that I think port cities are different. Port cities like New Orleans are less homogenous, they’re more diverse, they’re more welcoming of outsiders. That certainly has been the way New Orleans has been to me.”
