Danielle Mashburn-Myrick Receives ABC Business Bankruptcy Law Certification
MOBILE, Al. - Feb. 2, 2023 – Phelps Counsel Danielle Mashburn-Myrick achieved national certification in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification (ABC). The nonprofit ABC is the country’s preeminent legal specialty certification organization for bankruptcy practitioners, which certifies attorneys as specialists in business bankruptcy, consumer bankruptcy and creditors’ rights law. There are fewer than 1,000 lawyers across the country who have earned this prestigious certification. Sarah Beth Wilson, a Partner in Phelps’ Jackson office, is certified in Business Bankruptcy by the ABC.
The requirements to apply for and receive certification are exacting. Danielle demonstrated substantial involvement in 30 distinct business bankruptcy adversary proceedings and contested matters, completed over 60 hours of continuing legal education in bankruptcy, submitted 10 recommendations from bankruptcy attorneys outside of the firm, including from attorneys whom she opposed in substantive matters, and devoted over 30% of her practice time and more than 400 hours to bankruptcy matters in each of the past three years. Finally, she was required to pass a day-long comprehensive written examination covering bankruptcy generally, business bankruptcy specifically, and bankruptcy ethics for professionals.
Danielle is Counsel in Phelps’ Mobile office and represents clients across the firm’s footprint and mid-Atlantic states in numerous industries including marine and energy, health care, retail, hospitality, commercial real estate, transportation, and banking and financial services. Through her dedication and hard work, she has handled a broad variety of commercial and consumer bankruptcy cases, giving her a depth of experience and perspective unmatched by others still so early in their careers.
