Law Practice CLE Presents The ELVIS Act Has Entered the Building
On July 1, 2024, Tennessee updated its right of publicity statute to apply to voice digital replicas. This law is a direct response to the AI-generated deep fake of the Drake/Weeknd song that swept the internet. This change is beneficial for recording artists and record labels, but parts of the bill may have consequences for companies producing generative AI tools and for publishers.
In this Law Practice CLE webinar, Andrew Coffman will cover the history of the right of publicity and how the ELVIS Act demonstrates where the law is moving. The presentation will also cover lawsuits brought by Don Henley, Vanna White, Ed O’Bannon, Bette Midler, Tom Waits, the Major League Baseball Players Association, and Tiger Woods’ former caddie, Fluff.
