New Orleans CityBusiness Leadership in Law Honors Phelps Partners Pablo Gonzalez and Mary Ellen Roy
NEW ORLEANS — Oct. 25, 2022 — Phelps partners Pablo Gonzalez and Mary Ellen Roy were recognized by New Orleans CityBusiness’ Leadership in Law for leading the way forward in both the legal field and their communities. The publication awards 50 local lawyers each year for their career and civic achievements, and this is Pablo and Mary Ellen’s first year receiving this award.
Pablo guides clients through the complex, evolving issues involving insurance coverage for cybersecurity events. In addition to litigation and mediation, he conducts working reviews of policy language and develops innovative, cost-effective systems to help insurers, reinsurers and syndicates monitor claims. He is a frequent speaker and writer on cyber insurance topics and is an active member of his state and local bar associations and the Council of the Louisiana State Law Institute. Outside of his practice, he serves on the boards of Trinity Episcopal School and Carrollton Boosters.
For more than three decades, Mary Ellen has advised media and entertainment companies in the areas of intellectual property, defamation, privacy and business litigation. With clients ranging from chart-topping entertainers to local news media reporters, Mary Ellen is a sought-after litigator for intellectual property, First Amendment and other media-related issues. She is also a Louisiana Bar Foundation Fellow and is deeply involved in the Media Law Resource Center, the Association of Women Attorneys and the Louisiana Coalition for Open Government.
New Orleans CityBusiness celebrated Pablo, Mary Ellen and their fellow honorees with a reception at the New Orleans Museum of Art on Oct. 24.
