Phelps Associate Nash Gilmore Selected to 2024 Leadership Mississippi Class
JACKSON, Miss. — April 25, 2024 — Phelps associate Nash Gilmore was selected to the 2024 class of Leadership Mississippi, a program of the Mississippi Economic Council.
Leadership Mississippi, the nation’s second-oldest statewide leadership program conducted by the M.B. Swayze Foundation, trains a diverse group of young leaders in a program that combines individual study, group sessions and project experience in using leadership skills. It has graduated more than 1,400 alumni active in Mississippi business and politics in the past 50 years.
The program’s goals are to:
-
- Identify Mississippians who have demonstrated leadership through job related and community activities
- Sharpen their leadership skills
- Motivate young leaders by increasing awareness of community and state challenges
- Involve them in problem-solving activities on issues of current interest
- Provide a network of leaders across the state who are actively involved in improving Mississippi’s quality of life
Leadership Mississippi chooses each member of the class through a competitive application process. The section committee evaluates how an applicant has been involved in their community and their interest in expanding that involvement on a larger scale.
The 40 members of the 2024 class hail from different parts of the state and represent a wide variety of professions from the arts to the military.
Nash is an associate in Phelps’ Jackson litigation group. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation. Nash helps insurance carriers and reinsurers resolve first-party insurance coverage issues. He also represents clients in regulatory matters before administrative boards.
Nash serves on the Board of Trustees and as Secretary for the Phoenix Club of Jackson endowment fund. The Club raises money and awareness for the Boys & Girls Club of Central Mississippi. Nash is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law and the University of Mississippi.
“I’m honored to be chosen to participate in this year’s class,” Nash said. “I look forward to meeting new people, learning with them about the challenges facing our state and coming up with solutions.”
The Leadership Mississippi 2024 Class began working together on April 16 and will graduate in December.
