Phelps Expands Regional Employee Benefit, Executive Compensation and Bankruptcy Practices
NEW ORLEANS — Clients need sophisticated counseling to navigate the complex issues of employee benefits, executive compensation and creditor’s rights. Phelps Dunbar has added two lawyers with established reputations in these fields of practice to increase the depth and scope of our services.
Partner Michael Williams joins Phelps’ Labor and Employment practice. Michael has a proven track record of delivering tax, executive compensation and employee benefits to clients. He has extensive experience in all aspects of employee benefits law – including the design and administration of tax-qualified plans, welfare benefit plans and nonquailifed deferred compensation plans. He also has broad experience representing non-profit clients in all aspects of their enterprise.
“Michael’s broad experience with diverse clients gives us synergy in our employee benefits group as Phelps expands its footprint and client base in all of its markets,” said Reed Russell, Phelps’ regional Labor and Employment practice coordinator. “Phelps has been looking to add a next-generation partner to enhance its employee benefits group and we are thrilled that Michael has made the decision to join us.”
Counsel Rick Shelby joins Phelps with a practice focused on bankruptcy, restructuring, oil and gas litigation, commercial litigation and corporate governance. In his tenured law career, he has handled virtually all aspects of bankruptcy casework with recognitions from numerous peer review publications.
“Rick comes to us with a well-established track record as a top-notch bankruptcy, restructuring and commercial litigation attorney. His expertise will unquestionably enhance our ability to represent clients in virtually all aspects of bankruptcy work and complex commercial matters,” said David Patron, Phelps’ Practice Coordinator of the firm’s New Orleans Litigation Group.
