Phelps Names Ivan Rodriguez Managing Partner of Houston Office
HOUSTON – As Texas’ business climate continues to expand, clients need legal representation that is committed to their needs. Phelps Dunbar is affirming its commitment to Texas with the promotion of partner Ivan Rodriguez to Managing Partner of the firm’s Houston office.
“At Phelps, office managing partners are tone-setters. Ivan brings a creative, solution-based focus and an enthusiasm for attracting and developing the talent required to ensure the firm’s growth and presence in the critical Houston market,” Phelps Managing Partner Marshall Redmon said.
Ivan joined Phelps to serve clients with a wide variety of complex matters within the maritime and energy industries. Ivan also acts as regional and national counsel for several clients, and his litigation practice extends to other areas, including construction disputes, labor and employment, and products liability.
“I’m really excited about the firm’s continued focus on expanding its footprint and presence in the Houston market to include a number of new sections/practice areas,” Ivan said. “I’m looking forward to working with the Phelps management team and continuing to expand and strengthen our regional platform by recruiting top talent to make the Houston office a truly full-service center for Texas clients.”
A native of Bogota, Colombia, he is fluent in both English and Spanish. His language capabilities have proven invaluable to clients throughout the course of his legal career as he manages cases in numerous foreign jurisdictions. Chambers USA describes him as an attorney who “stands out for his experience in the South American markets.”
Outside of the office, Ivan serves as a member of the Foundation Board for the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston.
