Sarah Beth Wilson Elected as new Chairman of the State Board of Banking Review in Mississippi
JACKSON, MS — May 19, 2021 — Phelps partner Sarah Beth Wilson has been elected as the new chairman of the Board of Banking Review for Mississippi’s Department of Banking and Consumer Finance (DBCF). The Board is responsible for regulating and safeguarding financial institutions chartered and licensed in Mississippi. The position is governor-appointed and senate confirmed. Sarah Beth has been a member of the board since 2017.
Sarah Beth is a partner in the firm’s Jackson office. A National Board-Certified Specialist in business-bankruptcy law, she represents commercial clients and lenders in connection with commercial bankruptcy cases, creditors’ rights enforcement and litigation, and lender liability defense. Her clients value how she helps them find the best path forward when facing complex financial dilemmas.
The immediate former chairman of the Local Rules Advisory Committee for the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure for the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, Sarah Beth serves on many influential committees concerning policy, legislation and legal matters impacting lenders and financial institutions, and frequently presents at seminars and conferences concerning issues of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights law.
