Phelps Tops Rate of Black Partners in Annual Diversity Survey

Phelps Dunbar reported the highest percentage of African-Americans at the partnership level in an annual ranking of diversity among law firms.

According to the Diversity Scorecard, Phelps’ 5.4 percent representation of black partners rates the highest in the country. The findings are reported in a Law.com article on the results of the annual diversity survey.

The Diversity Scorecard ranked Phelps No. 148 in total law firm diversity in the 2019 survey. Phelps jumped 16 spots from its 2018 ranking of 164.

The Diversity Scorecard records the average number of minority lawyers at Am Law 200 and National Law Journal 250 law firms in the 2018 calendar year.
