Kevin Welsh practices in the areas of insurance, reinsurance and litigation, including appellate litigation. He has represented clients in a range of litigation matters including professional liability claims, commercial class actions, education law, real property disputes and casualty litigation.
Outside of litigation, Kevin has assisted clients in regulated industries by preparing draft legislation in support of broader, successful legislative lobbying efforts.
Experience
- Represented insurers at trial in the first COVID-19 business interruption case tried in U.S. leading to judgment dismissing plaintiffs’ coverage claims in full.
- Representation of multiple insurers in state-wide federal class action regarding first-party property damage valuation practices.
- Representation of a Louisiana parish school board from trial proceedings through Louisiana Supreme Court writ practice in teacher tenure dispute.
- Representation of insurer's managing general agent in errors and omissions claim involving multiple rounds of district court and appellate proceedings.
- Representation of a railroad in mass tort litigation in all stages of appellate litigation.
