Philip Claverie represents both financial institutions (regional and nationwide) and other companies in the areas of business and finance, including complex banking, commercial and real estate transactions and vessel financing. He specializes in syndicated multi-state loan transactions, as well as the financing aspects of tax credit financing (Historic and New Markets). He also represents commercial real estate developers in acquisitions, leasing and land use matters. He is the senior member of the firm’s Business Group, with more than 45 years of experience at Phelps Dunbar.
Experience
- Represented a nationwide bank in a $222 million syndicated loan to finance a large barge and fleeting company and in a $125 million syndicated loan to finance a large manufacturing company.
- Represented nationwide bank in construction loans to finance a $26 million student housing facility in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a $60 million high-rise upscale apartment building in Miami, Florida and a $195 million apartment complex in Dallas, Texas.
- Represented a nationwide bank in a syndicated $66 million secured working capital financing for a gaming company with casinos in 4 states.
- Represented a financial institute in several complex New Markets and Historic tax credit transactions: a $51.5 million and $40.6 million conversion of office buildings to apartments in New Orleans, Louisiana.
- Represented a very large private bulk liquid storage company in the negotiation and documentation of a $1.5 billion syndicated financing.
- Represented two New Orleans developers in numerous drug store developments in Louisiana, North Carolina and Virginia.
