Our representation of clients includes regulation by the Louisiana Public Service Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; regulated rates for transmission, distribution and sales; interconnection matters; acquisitions and sales of utility assets; general corporate and governance; utility financings; cogeneration and other power plant development, construction and operation; environmental; regulatory enforcement and compliance matters; and litigation. We represent major electric and natural gas utilities and renewable power developers.
Our power and utilities practice handles mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, diversification, labor and employment benefits, tax, antitrust and utility bankruptcy. We have experience in rural electric cooperative and municipal electric law. We also represent major independent electric power producers in generation development, state and federal regulatory advice, as well as general corporate and business issues. We represent industrial consumers in self-generation projects and interactions with their electric utility provider. We also counsel lenders and public investors involved in electric power projects.
The firm’s utilities practice includes contractual and regulatory aspects of the sale and transportation of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons. We represent pipeline owners and operators as well as industrial consumers and shippers of natural gas.
