Sustainability
As a generational law firm, our practice continues to evolve to reflect the current climate in our communities. We aim to leave a lasting imprint on the legal environment, prioritizing our communities and culture.
Sustainable practices are crucial for a brighter future. With an eye always toward possible improvement, we can work together to sustain good practices and habits that better our workforce, clients and communities. Some ways we strive to reduce our impact on the environment include:
- Evolving practice – Our footprint puts us in a unique position to monitor seasonal weather conditions that could interrupt our work habits. We have learned from disruptions and have moved toward a paperless system. We discourage unnecessary printing and copying. More recently, our practice has evolved to include more virtual programming and meetings, reducing travel.
- Sustainable communications – Whenever possible, we communicate via sustainable means, concentrating on digital communications and advertising.
- Smart office – For over 15 years, we have been a leader in sustainable office space. Every decision, from vendors and products entering the office to items rotating out of service, is made with green practices in mind to create environmentally friendly working facilities. We’ve implemented plans to reduce the resources needed to operate our office space, considering everything from lighting to business equipment. We were the first law firm in the state of Louisiana to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) accreditation (Certified) for an interior commercial office space.
- Purchasing “green” – The level of consideration for purchasing decisions starts with a baseline of sustainability. All items entering the office, from kitchen and paper products to firm giveaways, are purchased with a priority given to biodegradable, recycled, or recyclable products. We make conscious decisions and seek out products that are locally produced and free of hazardous chemicals. We use “green cleaning” programs wherever possible to minimize the introduction of volatile organic compounds into the working environment, further investing in the welfare of our environment and people.
